The most common reason for this error is that you are attempting to upload the wrong firmware file (Example: Uploading the SW24 firmware file to upgrade a SW24 VPN unit). Please download the correct firmware file that corresponds to your device and try upgrading again.
In some rare cases when upgrading the firmware from a prior release a "PID Mismatch" message is displayed. The PID is the 4th digit from the left of the Hardware ID field found in the Network Info menu on the System Status page.
Important : The information below concerns only the Duolinks SW24 VPN (green faceplate), Duolinks SW24 VPN Plus (red faceplate) and Octolinks SW88 (blue faceplate) load balancers. It does not apply to the Duolinks SW24 load balancer (orange faceplate). If your device is a Duolinks SW24 VPN, Duolinks SW24 VPN Plus or an Octolinks SW88 and the device shows a "PID Mismatch" error during a firmware upgrade, then follow the procedure below to successfully upgrade the firmware to Release 03 dated 25th April, 2008.
How to correct the PID Mismatch error shown during a firmware upgrade
1) Connect to your device and make a backup copy of your current configuration settings.
2) Check the device Hardware ID on the "System Status" page. If,
a) The 4th digit is 1 as shown on the image below, proceed to step 3.
b) The 4th digit is not 1, stop this procedure and read the information given in the Note section of this page.
3) Follow this link to download the specific version of the firmware Release 03 for your device.
4) Upgrade your device with the version you downloaded.
The new device Hardware ID after this firmware upgrade should show 2 as the 4th digit.
5) Reset your device to factory defaults.
6) Upload the backup copy of your configuration settings done in step 1.
Note : If your device already shows the correct Hardware ID in step 2, please double check that you are using the correct firmware file compatible with your device. Each firmware file is specific to a device and you will not be able to cross upgrade devices from one series to another.
